Hello!
My boyfriend and I are looking to relocate to a quieter, safer neighborhood in St. Louis. We currently live in Tower Grove, and although it's been wonderful for 4 years, we are growing more concerned with the frequent shootings that happen down the street, not to mention it's too hustle and bustle for us anymore, and we crave the space of a house and backyard.

We've been checking out the Kirkwood, Webster Groves, Ladue, Maplewood, Brentwood and surrounding areas. Our search led us to a house one block from Greenwood Park, and I have mixed feelings. Every other house is decent, and others are boarded up or broken down (Condemned? Foreclosed?). I was wondering if anyone has experience with this neighborhood, specifically the street Lithia. It's technically a Webster Groves address. Is it safe? Or is it worth passing over.

Thanks!!

I know someone who grew up in an adjacent area and would ride their bike through there, 20+ years ago. They would not buy a house in the neighborhood then OR now. It's not because of crime, but because of blight and being close to the RR tracks. I don't see the properties over there ever being that desirable, which is important if you want to sell easily in the future. Just my two cents!

Yes, there is definitely an area of Webster Groves that is just not as nice as the rest. We found a great house there but decided not to buy because of the overall low property values and not-so-nice upkeep in the area. The crime is significantly less of an issue there than by Tower Grove.

are you guys looking to buy or rent and what's the budget? I'm sure there's plenty of folks who can point you in the right direction in any of the towns mentioned. I live in Brentwood and happen to like it a lot- and there's quite a few affordable places for sale.
good luck!
