Oh and I also think you're right on about only motivating the students who would have gotten those scored to begin with. In high school I was one of those "smart kids" and I remember thinking "sweet, I'm going to get a gift certificate" not "damn, I better work really hard"

KS to STL is on a distinguished road
Default Thanks for the feedback!

I agree, talking to both parents and teachers is maybe the best way to get a "feel" for school climate. I have been around various assessments of student progress enough to know that schools and students learn to "play the game".

la_missouriene, I may be getting back to you soon. I'd like to know more about your experience in the schools you've been in!

DC Stein is on a distinguished road
Default Centrally located

I have a house for sale, or possible rent with the option to buy, located in Vinita Park. It's in the University City school district, which is ranked average for the metro area. Ladue is the best district in the area. The house is 6 miles from UMSL, 5 miles from Washington University and Fontbonne College, St Louis U. is about 10 miles, then there's Webster about 10 miles, not to mention 3 junior colleges from 8 to 15 miles. Besides a pitch for my house, I said all that to say that St louis has plenty of teaching needs at all levels of education. BTW, the house is the last house on a dead-end street next to a greenbelt with an extra side lot, fenced back yard, 1 car garage, additional off street parking, 3B, 1-1/2 bath, new total renovation, FP, and ALL appliances(DW, W&D, micro, range, fridge). Very private and quiet, yet right around the corner from shopping etc...
