Hello,
Are there any unusual spiritual/religious/sacred sites in or around St. Louis? I would be interested in visiting special places such as an old church with an unusual history, or a special statue that is worshipped, or a unique religious ceremony - any religion, any culture. Plan to check out Cahokia. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

I think pretty much every southside tavern has some spiritual if not religious significance. Not hard to find, there's one on almost every block.

I would check out:

The Old Cathedral: (St. Louis City, the oldest Catholic congregation in the area formed there in 1770 and the current church was constructed in 1834)

St. Ferdinand Shrine: (Florissant, in the North St. Louis suburbs. It was constructed in 1821 and the King of Spain granted the village of St. Ferdinand, which was occupied by French Settlers, the site where it was built)

Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows: One of the largest outdoor shrines in North America

Cathedral Basilica Largest Mosaic collection in the world.
