After paying $80 for a Geek Squad diagnosis at Best Buy I never want to go there again. They scratched up my computer and ended up not being able to find out what was wrong.

and cheapest? Probably the internet. Otherwise, it might be a good idea to specify a general area because it probably isn't worth it to drive across town for some shop that's hardly better than the best guy in your neighborhood.

Has anyone ever used the folks at MicroCenter? I've purchased machines from them, along with updated components and they always seem to know their stuff. Might be worth checking out. There are also a ton of small computer shops around the metro. I've used Orange Computers years ago, and the guys basically said "that old machine is about dead, and you can't find a power supply that will fit that case economically...cheaper to replace"

That's the thing about computers nowadays, if the problem isn't simple it is probably not worth fixing vs buying a new computer.
