St. Louis may be known for the blues, but not at Christmas: During the holidays, it might be the merriest place in the USA.

Few cities can boast more carolers, carrying on a tradition for almost a century — since 1911.

It was then that the St. Louis Christmas Carols Association began, when William H. Danforth, the founder of Ralston Purina, and a group of his friends decided to bring some Christmas spirit to their neighbors by caroling outside their homes.

The big surprise: People gave them cash, which they then turned over to a local children's charity.

The custom has grown every year since.

Now that's a nice story, Shadow! I'd love to go caroling, but they'd be paying me to STOP singing!!! There's definitely musical talent in the area - was just listening on the radio to the Concordia Seminary Chorus. Got to make a point to go listen to them live!
