Why are the new housing developers allowed to build in wood frame construction? Don't the building codes restrict new housing to brick since the fire of 1849? The new residences in old historic areas are restricted to be aesthetically similar in design, but they are being built of wood frame. Thus allowing them the same potential for uncotrollable fire spreading between them, just as the fire of 1849.What's up CITY HALL?

this makes me sick, just like when they throw up those hideous prefabs. St. Louis has a problem in keeping its historical integrity. Will there be brick buildings in 100 years.
