Amazing!

First of all who is this STLCARDS guy that posts in St. Louis' Section, but has never lived here. You stated that you visit, but have never resided. I'd suggest that anyone listening to his advice take it with a few grains of salt. There are a couple of Sam's Club Stores here is St. Louis. I can give you directions to all locations.

Secondly,

In comment to the original poster. Okay, you're Asian and have had these "ISOLATED" experiences here in St. Louis. Before making any objective statement, let me say that you take in what you give out. It's that Law of Attraction at work.

I Must say though, that you may have to work harder sometimes to Attract the Brighter Sider of things. You may see things that seem contradictory in what I write, but please scratch beneath the surface before spewing any Replies.

Here's a Brief Bio of Myself;

Ohio Native - One of the Original 13 Colonies. Never had any Slavery
26 years of Age.
100% Black Male
Mom is Black / Dad is White (StepDad, but has been with me since I was 5)
Attractive- Charismatic - Diplomatic. ( Very People Friendly) Make Friends Easily!
Have resided in O'Fallon, Mo since I've left Ohio
7 years / 4 Months / 3 Days & Counting
I've been to 3 Countries ( U.S., Canada, Europe)
The Bahamas as well.
I've been to 12 States Indepthly (Major Citites included)
Washington D.C. too.
Currently a Real Estate Investor.
Was a Courier for 3.5 Years here in St. Louis Metro Area.
I've literally touched every town of this StL Metro Area. That Includes Illinois.
Actually From Clayon, about a 50 Mile Radius. I know this city in and out.
I've met and hung with individuals from All Backgrounds here. I've acquainted all types.
Black, White, Asian, Middle Eastern, European (Bosnian, Lithuanian, Russian, etc.)
I've Dated Black, White, Asian, European, Canadian
Basically I have a well rounded view of this city.
This data will serve as my Credentials for a Somewhat validated Source of Information.

OKAY~~

St. Louis will never be like any other Major City in the U.S.
Chicago, NYC, Dallas, L.A., Columbus, Miami, Denver, etc.

St. Louis is fundamentally an A** Backwards Place.
What city builds a major N/S ThoroughFare an Stops in the middle of Town.
My impression is the city intentionally Stopped i-170 at Hwy 40.
The North and Sound parts of town, were dead to each other.
Not to mention, what city Shuts Down A Major East/West Highway for reconstruction.
Hwy 40 is what I'm talking About. It should've been Done Right the 1st Time around.

The number one thing that Holds this city back, is the NATIVES.
It's funny because the Natives views, ultimately spill onto the Transplants Views.
St. Louis is Racist from all ends. White, Black, Asian, Etc.
It's seems the only thing St. Louis has going for it's progression is the Influx of Transplants.

Seriously, if anyone thinks that the Downtown Phenomenon will last, they have another thing coming. If it does, it will be thanks to Individuals not originally from St. Louis.

It was a Culture Shock moving here.
People were and still are Non-Approachable in General her in St. Louis.
I've never seen so many City Limits/Jursidictions in one Metro area in my life.
Ohio has about 35% of the Actual City/Limits that St. Louis Does.
There are 2 Major Cities here in Missouri. The State Population is about 5 Million.
3 Million Live in StL Metro area.

WHY SO MUCH DIVISION?

Now, I'm not going to go on a tirade about history, but just a couple of points.

St. Louis was the Last Slave State. Court House is Still Downtown in the Heart of the City.
Confederate Flags Still reign the Backwoods here. Jefferson County, Lincoln County, Warren County, ( StL Metro Area )

I'VE BEEN TO ALL OF THESE PLACES

After only being here 2 months, I was pulled over and racially profiled from cops.
He stated a slight " Slur " towards me as well. I was in a BMW following 3 other cars headed to College doing 70 Miles per hour at i-170/The Airport. He picked me out of the other 2 White Occupied Vehicles whom were going 5 miles faster than I.

After I was handed the Ticket and Signed my name, I accidentally put his pen on my passenger seat.

He says with the tone and all "That's my Pen Partna"
I just looked at him and he looked back like, "Yeah, I just said that."
Everything was Downhill From there. I went to School Mad That Day and Still am irritated About it.

I've been to Majority White Bars/Clubs and have watced waiters/waitresses attempt to serve a White Patron before me. Although I was at the bar before them and they just walked up with there Whiteness and a couple of Bucks. Just to make a point. I bought the drink and left a $20 Dollar Tip.
"You're working at 1:00 A.M, while I'm enjoying the fruits of my labor."
"In Fact, you're working for me, Chop!, Chop!"

MOVING ALONG -

Now, don't get it misconstrued. I've met tons on non-racists individuals here, from all backgrounds and races. That term race is a weird one.

In Fact the majority of my closest friends here are not my race. There are great places to Eat here and the Nature is Great, but the People are the Disease that make it a less than desireable place to reside.

Although, I don't condoned ingnorance. I somewhat feel that the Blacks here have a right to be racist against Whites. It may sound crazy, but just from my personal experiences, I would have some hatred for the City Structure here in St. Louis, If I wasn't educated or have the family I have.

I can also understand some of the Whites' Perspectives on th Blacks here. This is generalized. Not saying all Black People are in the hood and uneducated, or all White People are in West County and Educated.

I sometimes catch myself being irritated by St. Louis Blacks. They've been held back so much by society it's sickening to see.

White's just dont' seem to understand the Domino effect or parallels.
Blacks Great Great Grandparent's were slaves. Then there Great Grandparents were forced to not get educated. They would even be killed if found reading a book.
There Grandparents suffered thru the Jim Crow Laws.
There Parents were then Stuck with just trying to survive.
It's a vicious Cycle that's tough to come out of.

Most humans aren't readily Strong per say. This is my view. We all need that push.
So just think about what this group must endure. It's almost faithless. That's how they feel.

You know there's still racism deeply ingrained in America Society, when we have a Bi-Racial Presidential Candidate ( Barack Obama ), being called the African American Candidate, when he is neither Fully Black or White.

Why isn't he the White Candidate? ( Help me out here Somebody )

No way am I justifying racism, but just understanding the depths of the whole picture here in St. Louis and America. St. Louis Specifically though.

I've been very fortunate in my life to have a strong family foundation and the opportunity to succeed with less obstacles than not just the average Black American, but White American as well.

The more things seem to change, the more the are staying the same.

The longer we have Black History Month, the longer divided we'll be.

The longer we have these Superficial Themes, The Longer You Wait!

I've seen St. Louis Transform Physically since I've been here, but not so much Spiritually and Connectedly as One. The Extension of the Metro Link was something that slowed the divide.

The Central West End and Delmar Loop Area are the most Diverse portions of this City. If you have capital and look half way decent in C.W.E. you're alright.

Anything goes in Delmar Loop Area.

I know this message is jumpy a bit, but I think my whole case has been platted somehat properly.

St. Louis Doesn't want to change. The Higher Upper's need to be changed. That old regime is keeping the city tired.

The longer they are in POWER, the more easily susceptible their follower's are to becoming the proponents of that OLD STRUCTURE.

The Whole Picture is Deeper than a Couple of Racial Slurs. Although the Picture can be Attained by Starting from Something as Barbaric as a couple Ignorant Phrases.

I would love to see St. Louis' Progression, but I'm not holding my breath.

In fact I'm packing my bags. There's Something more Quinching to The Soul. I know, I've experienced it.

All I said was that I have never experienced any racism in St. Louis and I haven't. What's wrong with that? I go a few times a year and I have never heard anyone say a racial slur to me.

Secondly, chill. Nobody wants to read a post that is angry. Especially when it comes out of nowhere.

Really good post man. I thought the "mirror" part of the post was insightful. How one group could be discriminatory against the other, it can be sickening on both sides. Although you used St. Louis as a point of reference, the same behaviors can be found in all major metro areas.

Another thing, the whole bar part was funny. My friends and I have had the same experience a few times, but I tend to get a little "ignant" about how the service sucks around there, and then here comes a round of drinks..lol

Default Move to the west suburbs

I lived in Chesterfield and my family still lives in the Ladue area. I never encountered any racism in those areas. Move there. Plus the St. Louis City is dirty and pretty much sucks.

The city may not be your cup of tea, but some people like it. We've already gone over that, though.

And you can find racism is a lot of areas, not just the inner city. In fact, a lot of suburbs were started because of white flight, whites moving out of cities to get way from minorities.

Jay33, in your post you stated that Ohio is one of the original 13 colonies, I hope you were being sarcastic, otherwise, you might wanna re-check that fact.
Before you start on me, let me say that I am a STL native from Ladue, moved to Sainte Genevieve when I was 10, my family has been in the area since 1699.

I remember as a kid growing up living in the St. Louis area. I encountered all kinds of racism in Chesterfield. From stares at the mall. To dealing with racist teachers in school.

There is actually alot more tollerance in the inner city. Not to mention more intergrated neighborhoods. Whites and black live together more-so than in the suburbs. What are you basing your statement on?

Please explain to me what this means. I hear this said about different cities from time to time and it makes no sense. Define "dirt". Are you talking about dust, soil, trash, something else? I've visited many supposedly "dirty" cities and don't seem to be finding all this dirt.

OK...

Where shall we start? Hmmm..

1.
STLCARDS -

I didn't think my post was angry. It's probably just that Scorpio Passion seeping thru the thread.

I wasn't really trying to attack you, but sort of. It's just hard for me to wrap my head around someone that doesn't live here, giving advice on the city. Maybe you know your stuff. You ScreenName seems to be in line.

I'll try to watch my tone in future posts.

2.
Charleston Class-

Thanks for the feedback. It's greatly appreciated.
You're right though. The post can be applied to America Nationwide generally, but St. Louis has a special place on my PooP List.

It is crazy to patron a predominantly white bar and experience a waiter/waitress trying to belittle your Bucks or Person. I just instantly see them for what they are. "Insecure."
Rather Black or White, it's just not becoming.

Don't get me wrong there were racist individuals in Ohio, but 90% of my childhood and teen years, I didn't evern focus on race. I went to one of the most diverse High Schools in Ohio. There were Asians, Blacks, Whites, Arabs, Mexicans, you name it. You had no choice but to conform. It was always in your face. You'd be the minority if you were racist.

So it was definitely a culture shock moving here. I'm just glad I didn't attend High School Here. Thank The Almighty Consciousness! St. Louis has a long way to go.

3.
Kshe95girl-

You're right, Ohio wasn't one of the original 13, just the next state in line if there were 14. My bad. It was an honest mistake, but so close to being true that my mind just blabbed it out at 12:00 a.m. on the initial post.

Not to mention so many spelliing errors I made. It wasn't too bad, but it irritates me when a post has so many mistakes, it makes me not want to read it.

Thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt thought. (I'm assuming you read the post)

Really, I don't know how to respond to your post. What should I be starting on you with?
The Given Fact that there's about 5000 people in your town. The equals about 10 Black People with the 2% population. Not insinuating anything. Just brushing on some good facts for you.

Oh, I see.... You thought I was going to rip you apart on not being from St. Louis. I get it.... You're a Native that moved to St. Genevieve when you were 10. That means you have no conscious understanding of the city what-so-ever. An Adult Perspective.
Hmmm... I see.

No seriously.. You pulled my card on the 13 Colonies and I commend you. Is that it though?

Do you have any other input that can further each of our lives on this Forum?

If so... Please Spit it Out.

Other than that. I had come to St. Louis with an extremely open mind, but allowed myself to be tainted from the Dirty Consciousness of StL Metro.

Another Thing, I refrain from drinking the Water Here.

I truly believe there's something in the Water that messes with the Native's Brains.

My friend and I, (Whom is a Canadian Native) made up a little term for the Native's.

Here it is. M - O or M - Dot.

Ex.
"Rob, Did you just see what that M - Dot just did?"

I wish the best for St. Louis, but there needs to be a serious cleansing performed.

First- Get rid of all the unnecessary churches. Missouri must have the most churches per capita in the World. GEEZE.. LOUISE! Brain Wash Effect.

Secondly - Make it mandatory fore Every Child to go on a field trip with the opposite race in Elementary School.

Thirdly - ??? Help me Out somebody.
