Need information about St. Peters
Hello,
I've lived in St. Louis (Maryland Heights) for a few months
After doing some thinking... I believe that St. Peters would be a great place to buy my 1st house, I have until the end of the year to make up my mind.
I'm married with 2 kids that are 4 & 2.
At this moment I like the St. Peters area because is a little far out of the city but I can still get to my work fast, which is located where 270 & Page meet.
What do you guys think about this area?

I grew up there and it sounds as though you'd like it. The only issues most people have with the area is that it's kind of far from the city, and as such most commutes are long, but it doesn't seem like that's an issue for you.
The prices are still pretty reasonable, and they're still rising. There's a good mix of older (OK like 70s) and newer construction so you have a choice between both.
If you stay in the Francis Howell School District you'll probably have an easier commute and the schools are generally ranked better. They have a fantastic gifted ed program (They used to have the only High School program in the state, though I'm not certain that's accurate anymore)
If you find a home you like there I'd urge you to go for it.

I lived in St. Peters for almost four years (off Jungerman). I love the St. Peters/St. Charles/O Fallon area. Once you get to know your way around, there are shortcuts to get just about anywhere fast. Anything you would ever need are close by, and gas is less expensive over there.

Howdy. I'm new to the forum and have lived in the St. Louis area my whole life.....with the exception of a couple years while in the Army.
I currently live in St. Charles but as an adult have also lived in St. Peters (4 years), O'Fallon (4 years), Maryland Heights (1 year), and Florissant (3 years). St. Charles and St. Peters are by far my favorites.
A few cool things about St. Peters are:
- The handle their own trash pickup and offer free mulch and compost to residents
- Have a great community center (RecPlex)
- Lots of parks
- Most roads are fairly new so they aren't torn up
I really enjoyed living there and was hard pressed to decide between St. Charles and St. Peters when I moved back from St. Louis County.
Good luck!

Thank you very much for all the info.
It sounds like I'm making the right decision.
I still have until December, but we (my family) are going to start taking trips over there during the weekend to get more familiar with the area.
Is there any bad areas in St. Peters or around there?

No, not really. There are a couple of trailer parks one on Mexico right by the mall and one off old hwy 94 near White Castle, but they're pretty low-key. I can't really think of one place there that i wouldn't feel safe wandering around in the middle of the night. Honestly...
There are some "shadier" sections of old St. Charles, but almost all the crime is domestic in nature and still to even call it shady just seems silly.
It's a very safe community.
