^ interesting - cool, then I would definitely go with St. Charles. My memories of downtown St. Charles are a bit dated. But it is very similar to another old-school main street in suburban Cincinnati - old downtown Milford, which has also become much more trendy and night-life oriented over the past decade.

Thanks for the advice. Since more than likely it will be just my son and me for a while, we'd probably live closer to work. What are daycares like in St. Charles? Cost, choices, etc?

O'Fallon is one more town further out than St Peters so I am thinking you need to be outside the 270 loop to stay under that 45 minute mark with any consistency. I guess I am going to have to second the idea of St. Charles - but it is not exactly city living - there is a nice cobble stone Main St stretch with nice parks and shops, but I don't think there would be much open after dinner (I could be wrong). It is more like a touristy, antique store kind of idyllic commercial district without a ton of night life. Otherwise you are looking at straight up suburbia - strip malls and the like. Where in SW Ohio are you now? If you are in Cincy, O'Fallon is comparable to (maybe) Lebanon in terms of distance to city life.
You're talking two different areas. You're talking about St. Peters, closer to I-70. The poster is talking about the O'Fallon area closer to I-64/40. Much faster from Clayton to O'Fallon/Dardenne Prairie/Weldon Spring near 64/40 than to St. Peter's or the O'Fallon area near I-70. O'Fallon area stretches from I-70 all the way down to 64/40.

^good point. so I guess that's 30 minutes drive in no traffic from the Galleria - not 45. Point well taken. I still wouldn't want to drive 50 miles a day to get to and from work, so as much as I like Clayton and Brentwood, I am not sure I can recommend it for that reason. Plus, add in rush hour traffic, and that 30 gets stretched big time - a huge variable to factor into your daily routine. Not good when needing to get kids by 6:00 from daycare.
