Default need public school for mildly autistic son

Does anyone have any thougts on what public school system would be best for my son next year? He is considered high-functioning Asperger's and I have been told that moving into the Clayton or Ladue area would be the best bet. I want a "small" public school system that has plenty of $$$ for services he will need.

Thank you.

Default Special School District

St. Louis County is unique in that the Special School District handles all special education services for 23 districts located within the county. Ladue and Clayton are both included in this area. I have heard that Ladue schools are particularly good for autism, I actually know a family who has a son with autism that went to school in that district. Rockwood and Parkway are also good districts to look at.

My guess is that kids with Asperger's would not go to Special SD as they'd be high functioning enough to be in regular classrooms. I would make an appt to go and see the schools you are interested in -- they vary greatly.

School districts with money alone are not necessarily the schools that will cater best to your child.
