We will be moving to St. Louis from Chicago in a few weeks and are looking for the best daycares/preschools in the area for our 1 and 2 year old daughters. (17 and 31 months so ideally looking to place both our 1 year old and soon to be 3 year old) We are fans of Montessori and Reggio-inspired curricula but are open to ideas about the best learning environments in the area. My husband will be joining the faculty at St. Louis University so locations near there would be ideal as we are also looking for homes at the same time and still not sure where we will be living - possibly University City, Central West End, Clayton, etc.

I've heard nothing but wonderful things about Developmental Childcare located in the dogtown neighborhood by Forest Park.

Developmental Child Care

It would be an easy commute from any of the cities you are considering.

I figured I'd just add some perspective to this post. I'm currently looking for infant care and live in the neighborhood the above center is in--its easily the most expensive place I've found in the western part of the city (at least at the infant level). So, if you're having sticker shock, don't completely panic yet.

Other than that, I have no experience with them, other than they haven't responded to my inquiries, and they're expensive.

I've heard good things about University City Children's Center (U City Children's Center).
