It kind of depends where in St. Charles you are, but assuming you have easy access to I-70, during rush hour it will run about 40-45 minutes, more like 30-35 the rest of the time.

yeah thats about right, maybe a bit on the high end. I commute it everyday and live right off 370 so I take 370 to 270 to 170 to 70. It is hardly ever over 45 mins in rush hour and more like closer to 40 mins. In the middle of the day its usually 35. Right now they have the express lanes open in the opposite direction for whatever reason because of the lane closure on 40. This has made rush hour slower.

That is good to know. We are thinking of living in St. Charles but have heard horrible things about the commute downtown. We have heard that it is more like an hour!

You probably heard this from someone who doesn't live, nor has ever lived, in St. Charles. I've heard a lot of people say the traffic in St. Charles is terrible, but in my experience it's really fine. Traffic on side streets in West County is typically much worse than St. Charles (trying to drive down Manchester on a Saturday will test even the heartiest of driver's patience) Of course all of this also depends on your frame of reference too.

Well, we are moving from Springfield where traffic is almost non-existent. We used to live in San Diego so we are used to commuting for work and traffic. Just didn't know how STL's traffic compares.
