Pantera's used to be a long time chain, and one of their last one's in St. Louis is in Mapelwood, carry out only. I have always enjoyed Panera's.

Dewey's is good as is their salads. But I prefer a light, airy, crisp, crust. The crust is too soft and doughy for me, and sometimes my pizza is not cooked the way would like, however it is very good.
I know many people know, but I'm not sure if most people know that Dewey's is named after Bill Dewitt's nickname of "Dewey." And of course it is the chain restaurant of the Dewitt family, as in Cardinals owners, which originated in Cincinnati.

indeed, I always ask the folks at Deweys to cook my pizza "well done." About half the time they fulfill the request and the pizza comes out better-- more crisp on the outside.

Let's face it pizza is like crack just not as harmful to you right away. Who hasn't ever been in a mall's foodcourt some time in their life and walked past a Sbarro even, and stopped dead in their tracks?

Sbarros is still better than Imo's/Elicia's/Cecil Whittaker's (what a dumb name). The carton is better than those three. Asphalt tastes better than pizza from those three...

Oh yeah, and Imo's is a LOCAL chain in case you weren't aware (to the OP).
I have rarely found a pizza that I dont like, but Pantera's is definitely one that I didn't like.
Pointer's I think is a bit overrated

Thanks for the info about Imo's. I moved from central IL, and they are there as well. DH is going on vacation soon... Looks like a pizza-tastic week!

I loved that one also but it wasn't in St. Charles when I lived there. I can't remember really but I think it was either in U City or southwest city area.
|
Nor when I lived there (at least to my knowledge, anyway). Perhaps the one you're thinking of is on De Baliviere, just down the street from Washington University near Forest Park? That's the one we always went to.
My vote for best pizza would have to go to Balducci's Winefest in Maryland Heights. But then again, I haven't lived in St. Louis in 15 years and I've never tried Pi's, so I could be talking out of the wrong end.
