You just need to work on 'em a little.
Now, I'm missing my hometown....

For the St. Louis style, I'd go with Imo's...if you're heading down to the Soulard mardi gras, Joanie's is excellent. My current favorite is the Black Thorn pub....deep dish Chicago sytle YUM!

Is that Connie's place good? I drive by it everyday, but it looks pretty generic.

It's nothing spectacular, compared to Giordano's on 22nd (by Oak Brook Mall) or, of course, pretty much any Geno's location. I just thought I'd throw a shout out to Westmont; I lived in both Westmont and Clarendon Hills in the late 90's/early 00's.

Thanks to whoever suggested Talyana's at the Park - one of the best we've had here.
Would've tried Vito's but it was snowing pretty well last night and didn't wan to to go that far!

SO this gooey cake can be purchased at Dierberg's? What is that? I am assuming it is a grocery store? Is the cake in the bakery section? That may be a silly ?.....

Happy that you enjoyed your visit there. A group of us was there in December and we had about 5 different styles of pizza. Great eating. Good service.

I do like Talayna's and Fortel's. As for Imo's, I guess it's a question of what you grew up with. I like the thin crust, and the toppings are always fresh and plentiful, but I'm not a native St Louisan so the provel cheese is definitely an issue for me. The taste is OK, but there's something about the consistency that just doesn't seem right. The cheese on a pizza should be a little bit chewy and should pull off in strings when you lift a slice. The provel just seems to run and drip, and soak into the crust making it soggy.
Haven't been there in years, but there's a place on The Hill called Lou Bocardi's. They used to make an excellent pizza, and gave you your choice of cheese.

Someone else here also mentioned Vito's Pizza, over by SLU.
Thank you, thank you, thank you...I'll find your post and rep you big time for that one.
It was crowded (30-minute wait on a Friday night before a show) but the pizza was great (be sure to get the Italian sausage) - I'd pay $10 just to stand inside and take in the aroma for 20 minutes.

Fasolt you are right on about the consistency of the cheese... and now I want some!!
It's the gooey-ness I love so much about the stuff!
You're definitely right about it being a native St. Louisian thing!
