Directv blows!!!!!! We have had them for 4 years and are switching to Dish, much less expensive, and better offers.
I am in Fl, but the rates seem to be the same nationwide, my friend has Directv in Ste Gen county, she hates it too!

I'm really not exxagerating when i say this, i have never heard of anybody NOT having problems with charter! they are the worst ever to deal with, and we cannot stand them, we're having ours disconnected, and going through AT &T, and if you can go with U-verse! it's like 90 bucks for everything, cable, internet, land phone, and cell phone! and you probably pay 125 bucks for less w harter. I know U-verse isn't available in all areas yet, but if it is available in your area I would go with that!

you are pretty much "damned if you do and damned if you dont" whatever company you use. your best strategy is to choose one you want to use, find all of the best deals the other companies are offering, and call your favorite and negotiate negotiate negotiate. If the person doesnt give you what you want, call back and ask someone else.

That's so true. I never thought their prices were negotiable, but I lived with a cheap businessman for a while and he got 30 bucks off a month.

I've now had three different cable companies- Charter, Mediacom (in Columbia) and Comcast (in Chicago) and I've had no end of problems with all of them.

Anybody do one of those bundles AT&T is offering?

What I can tell you is that I am not a fan of cable.

What I can also tell you is that you have to renegotiate deals every few months to constantly improve your deals with any of the above. It's highly annoying and time consuming. However, you have to stay on top of it with regularity.

Wow, same exact situation for me. I have had 2 cable boxes go bad in 2 weeks. I havent even bothered to call them about the last one that broke down. Their customer service is incompetent.

In southern Illinois I had Dish, and when I moved to the metro-east, they said "Currently we have no dates available for an installation." They tried making me pay to get out of the contract, but I basically told them that they were forcing me to break my contract by expecting me to pay for services I wasn't receiving. So, they didn't make me pay after speaking with one of the "higher-ups" in the call center.

My case is a little different than most people but I'll go ahead and tell you.

I speak spanish and I'm trying to teach my two little kids spanish.
So the obvious option is DirecTV or DishTV because of the packages with spanish channels.

When I had DirecTV several years ago the signal would only go away with really bad weather.
I got DirecTV again about 1 year ago and for some freaking reason now the signal goes away much more frequently than before.

About price,
in my case, I could get the same package of about 30 channels in spanish and 125 in english for $60 with DirecTV and with DishTV it would be $36.

The only reason I have DirecTV is because those technicians never want to do an installation that will take them more than 30 minutes, and after calling both companies many times, finally DirecTV installed it in my apartment.
