Hey aragx6
We are about to move to STL from Raleigh, NC where the downtown area is currently undergoing that exact same issue. You will see a subdivision of 80's style ranches and then a huge mega mansion on a tiny lot. So yes finally our mayor has made some sort of proposal to restrict the size of new homes in relation to the surrounding community. Of course most poeple are all up in arms about it. I am indifferent either way but it does look really wierd to drive through and see these freakishly large houses that stick lick a sore thumb.

You won't find tear downs in Webster, but you will find some in Kirkwood. Many of them are building the homes to fit into the style of the other homes in the area, though not all of them. It's a long ongoing battle.

You will also see some in Clayton, again, many of them are removing the few small homes in Clayton and putting up large homes that try to assimilate the other homes in Clayton). In Ladue and Warson Woods, again, similar thing, but these are mansions being built, large lots, 7-8 figure homes. Not a ton of them but some.

It's not as bad as say Chicago, in this regard, but there is some of it going around in St. Louis.
