Pasadena Hills: My dream town, whats yours?
There are many places in St. Louis I would love to live: Dogtown, Soulard, Lafayette Square, Old Town Florissant, Old Ferguson, Old North St. Louis, Webster, Central West End, U-City, etc. and so on. The problem is there are so many beautiful places and you can't live in all of them. But if I could narrow it down to one place, its a little known suburb tucked away in North County called Pasadena Hills.
This place is awesome and the ENTIRE CITY is placed on the National Register of Historic Places. There was a wonderful photo thread in another forum I visit about Pasadena, check it out.
Its only a little preview of what you'll see, i encourage people to visit it and see for themselves. You might be wondering to yourself is this North County or is this Ladue? Granted the commerical center around Pasadena is not the best, but I believe Natural Bridge is due for a rehab and there was recently an article in the Surburban Journals where UMSL, The City of Normandy, and North County Inc. are teaming up to make Natty Bridge something special like the Loop.

What is your dream place in St. Louis if you could only pick one? Just one?

My favorite areas of St. Louis are Kirkwood, Webster Groves, Clayton, Soulard, Central West End, Washington Ave Loft District, downtown St. Charles. But If I had to pick one it would probably be Kirkwood or Webster Groves, probably Kirkwood. I just love the quaint yet upscale small town flavor those two areas have.

Def. Central West End.
You know I've heard of Pasadena Hills, but never been. Interesting articles; if they can make some of thatg happen it would be great for the area.

Holy crap, those are some pretty house.
I drove today on Goodfellow coming from the North and then got on I-70 going West.
So I almost ran into this place.
I guess I'll go by next time.

I love Kirkwood. People there are nice, and I love the older homes and "small-town" feel with big-town amenities.

Me, too! I kinda grew up in the area, my uncle had his design and antique business there, and his home, too...... so many great memories for me there! My grandmother lived in south STL, on Chippewa, loved the arts and crafts style home she lived in .

I just went by today and it looks a hell lot prettier in person than in pictures.
It kind of looks like a gated community, if that's the case, it's a huge gated neighborhood.
Is there a history of how that place came out to be that way?
This is the only picture where you can see a little how the neighborhood looks like

I don't know much about the history, but Wikipedia says it is one of the wealthiest majority-black communities in all of the midwest. Somehow they've been able to stave off some of the problems plaguing North county and other inner-ring suburbs around the country.
