I know you all had a huge flood several years ago, but are there any areas in St. Louis or surrounding burbs that are prone to flooding?

Generally speaking, areas near the rivers are flood-prone. For specifics, I don't know any resource that's better than https://msc.fema.gov/portal/search.

It's not common. Parts of Fenton, Pacific, and Arnold were hit hard in floods in late winter. There is always a section of Manchester Rd in Rock Hill/Brentwood in mid STL County that seems to get inundated briefly where it crosses Deer Creek, but that mostly affects commercial buildings I think. The big flood you're thinking about was probably the '93 flood which most prominantly affected areas in Illinois and Valley Park and the Chesterfield Valley in MO. The Chesterfield Valley is now protected by a levee as is Valley Park. Although Valley Park was impacted by the late winter flood to some degree as well.

In and around Eureka along Interstate 44 and in Arnold along Interstate 55 are areas that will flood, but I wouldn't say that they are necessarily prone to flooding. Maybe once every 3-5 years these areas will flood, just a rough average. It usually only lasts a day or two, the interstates may be shutdown temporarily so it can be difficult to commute in to the city. I've heard areas around St. Charles will flood on occasion. All the responses above are very good.
