Default Types of rental housing in Central West End

Hello all. I am relatively new to the forum. Having read many posts for a couple weeks, I have a question. My partner and I are coming to St. Louis (from Florida) to look for an apartment or small house to rent next month. Our plan is to try out the city with a rental for a year to see if we like it well enough to relocate. His first choice is in the Central West End -- we both want a walkable, diverse neighborhood. Checking out Craigslist, most the of rentals in CWE appear to be small one bedrooms or studios. What else is there? We were in St. Louis for 5 days last August. I liked Soulard the best, but he feels that noise from clubs and restaurants would bother us (we are early retirees). Can you help us? Thanks

I would think that there would be more than just small 1 BR and Studio apartments in the Central West End area. Do you want 2BR? I'm sure you could find some to suit you.
On Craigslist the University City area has plenty of listings for 2 and 3 bedroom homes.
st louis craigslist > apts/housing for rent: search for "university city"

Some more details about exactly what you're looking for would be helpful.

If you still can't find what you're looking for Central West End the University City area is nice, as is Clayton, and Downtown, but they might be too noisy for you.

Soulard is almost certainly quieter than the Central West End except for just a couple days each year (Mardi Gras)

I'm confused about why you only found 1 bedrooms and studios in CWE- a quick look on Craigslist turned up quite a few 2 bedrooms and several 3 bedrooms. Perhaps your budget is too low?
