Missouri? Not so much.
Stifling traffic, taxes, far left liberals, laws for everything, hoards of illegals and non English speakers, high cost of living, crowded metro areas. Sorry, Commiefornia isn't very appealing for me, especially southern California. Sure California has nice weather especially southern California, but all the negative things outweigh anything positive. Maybe 50 years ago I'd say it was a lot different, but now it really is lala land. And now they want to make it a sanctuary state.

I had a guy at my work from New York yesterday who lived in LA for a couple years and said it was too liberal and fruity and this was someone from New York, another nanny state.

Half the problems you have with California are a result of it being very popular, you're not making a very good case against it.

LA is extremely fake and annoying but that's showbiz towns for you. Nashville is the same way.

Nashville, while democrat like any city, I don't see the fruits and nuts that you see in California, at least not a lot of them. With this site leaning liberal, I can see why people here like it out there.

A large economy is not necessarily an indication that a state is doing well. They say illegals are great for the economy too. All that means is increased demand for goods and services, which translates to higher prices and more debt (increased money supply). What's good for the economy is often not good at all for the average Joe.

When my boss offers criticism, I offer one of two responses:

a) Ok, I will make efforts to improve.
b) Ok, let me explain my efforts and the results they produce.

However, my would response would never involve trashing another random co-worker. It's immature and exhibits a lack of focus.

Yet, somehow, your response is essentially that. Instead of focusing on the issue, you're deflecting to cherry-picked issues elsewhere. I don't care if California is a total apocalyptic dump. That is no excuse for the issues we have here in Missouri.

Illegals also do the crimes Americans don't want to do as well!

Rape, drunk driving, robbery, murders, drug dealing. The Democrat party benefits from the illegals voting that's for sure.

Undocumented immigrants commit less crimes than citizens. And they don't vote. You're just spreading ignorance and misinformation.

But immigrants are good for the average Joe. They may be bad for some specific Joes. When something is good for society but bad for certain individuals, that's an issue of design and distribution at the society level, not an inherent problem with immigration. It's like, if the gains from free trade were redistributed to workers instead of gathered by the 0.1%, it would help everyone, but instead millions of people get laid off with little to show for free trade. Without undocumented immigrants, the country simply wouldn't function; that's not good for the average Joe.

Illegals are a drain on resources no matter how you or anyone else tries to spin it. Even Mexican nationals that are here legally are a drain. Spend any amount of time in an ER near the border, and you can see for yourself. Americans that actually have insurance are forced to wait for hours to get seen, while Mexican nationals and illegals don't pay a dime. Apparently their socialist system in Mexico is terrible so they come here for care. Also, Canadian providers move here to get decent paying jobs, because the pay sucks under Canada's socialist system. The crappy pay has created a doctor shortage, which is why Canadians have to wait months for surgery.

American conservatives are the only people in the world who think America has a good health care system. Every Canadian I've talked to is almost as scared of American hospitals as they are of American prisons.

And every Canadian I've talked to thinks our system is much better than theirs, but really, why should we care about what they think of our healthcare? Their docs are leaving for better pay. You take away the motivation for profit, and everyone has equal access to inadequate substandard care.
