need a town south of St. Louis for relocation
I am looking into a position in Bourbon. It is about an hour south west of St. Louis. My wife would be able to work in St.Louis / suburbs if we can find a town in between with good schools and real estate prices.
So far I have noticed st clair & villa ridge as being "on the map"...
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Washington MO may be a candidate for you if you can find a place near 44.

Yes, South East side. Take Hwy 100 heading towards Washington and go about 2 miles. You will come to an old state road that heads back towards Saint Louis at a flashing light. Follow that road and you will find several hidden subdivisions. A good friend lives in one that has 5 acres lots.

Thanks. The searches I've done so far have me thinking RURAL. It doesn't seem to me that the suburbs sprawl out that far from St Louis. Granted I would love a 5 acre lot.
Do you know anything about bourbon? Or have any thoughts on the space between the city and bourbon?

Villa Ridge has a few homes on 3-5 acre tracts in the $170K range.

I don't really know much about Bourbon, I think the drive on 44 from 141 on Southwest is beautiful. There is lots of public (undeveloped) land thru there,
Route 66 State Park, Lone Elk Park, Tyson Research, Forest 44, the wild bird sanctuary, the Chubb trail are all there before you get to Eureka.
44 is on the same track heading Southwest as Route 66, you will find little towns every 20 or 30 miles thanks to the old train whistle stops. It’s mostly rolling hills
with some deep draws here and there. You shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a place. I recommend patience; you can find some hidden gems in those hills if you look hard enough.

Check out Arnold, House Springs, maaayyyyybbee Fenton. Those are all essentially suburbs or St. Louis. Washington is becoming somewhat exurban and would likely be closest to your job. Farmington and Festus--though full of hoosiers--are also options for you....

I grew up not far from Bourbon--beautiful area but public school is eh...
I would suggest Washington as well!
