I see that St. Louis is a very Catholic city. Will non-religious people, kids especially, feel out of place?

Not at all! The CWE is one of the most liberal parts of the city. Atheist here! And I agree, Washington Terrace is incredible but I'd argue that WP and PP are a step up. closer the the amenities of the CWE and right across from the park.

As a group, nobody is less religious than Catholics.

Agree with others here. There are some folks in St. Louis who assign a great deal of value to being able to send their kids to the big-name Catholic high schools - they are high quality education and they are not cheap. It is as much an expression of one's social status as it is of ones religious beliefs (probably even more about social status to be honest), but that is more of an old-money and/or multi-generational St. Louisan phenomena, and you would find that many people in the city, and especially in the Central West End tend to be more secular and less rooted in local traditions. You and your kids would be fine that way.

Lots of Protestants, Jews, and non-religious people too. It is not an issue.
