As far as I'm aware, they all get along pretty well. I don't have a kid there though. Private school spirit is pretty high though, so you will likely see non sporty guys watching games and enjoying cheering for their school.
Sounds like a great environment! Someone once said to me of a school in our own area (same thing--Jesuit boys high school) "The football team was cheering on the debate team as they got on the bus to go to a competition." Kinda brought tears to my eyes. I like that kind of comradery.

Jock school would be one where the sports stars are valued more or significantly more than the academic stars. Could go farther to saying that academic genius is viewed as a negative, but generally that doesn't happen at private schools because parents aren't paying $$$$ for their kids to not get an education.

I'm really impressed with the academic side of SLUH. We have many friends who are alumni, we have several friends with current students there, and we meet a bunch of current students/recent grads every year because of my husband's involvement with a university alumni club in the area. Anywhere that has average ACT scores of 30 is doing something right.

I'm not so much a fan of the social side of it (not the biggest fan of the single-sex, "you are the best of the best" message that their students seem to graduate with), but it's probably our plan for our son because we live so close and it's so strong in so many areas (and we are Catholic).
