Either that, or you have an awful style of satire.
........no I think it's just you get way to offended. if you didn't like my sarcasm, why would you make a big deal out of this?

But many in such areas can buy brand name sports wear and new Nike Shoes, gold chains etc. There could be a lot of drug money.

So, not talking off the top of my head. Some with outlet stores that sell what didn't sell at Macy's or Frontenac. Sad facts. Unfair practices.

Do you consider Ferguson near Cool Valley & Normandy, by I-70, a "rougher part of town"? It is definitely majority black.

Because there is this:

This was interesting to ponder because while I'm not in St Louis, where I live there is a lot of closed/abandoned real estate or unrented/unleased space. I would love it and be a daily, money-squandering, loyal patron if there was a real coffeehouse or cafe around (besides the drive-thru Starbucks). But when I imagine there being a coffeehouse and hanging out there, I realize the proprietors would have to contend with the many homeless/indigent/altered-consciousness-not-in-a-good-way people who now populate the public areas. I sometimes sit outside and have a coffee at the closest thing to a coffee house there is right now near me, a chain bagel shop, and by my own experiences, I would not wish that on a new owner of a new establishment, and the empty spaces (some of them really cool architecture!) make a lot more sense. But change happens, and I can dream!

McDonald's sells coffee for a buck and change, same with 7-Eleven and most gas stations. It's not high end stuff, but it's still a hot cup of caffeine. $5 x 365 = ?, $1 x 365 = ?

The difference can go towards the light bill.

Actually, Downtown Ferguson is actually really cool. Go check it out.
Also, Sun Coffee shop in the heart of Hyde Park in North City is great from what I've heard. Also, LaMancha on N 14th Street in north city near Crowne Candy Kitchen.
