What's your price range? That's the key factor here. You can easily get places near the city with acreage if you;re willing to shell out the dough, or you head head farther out and get a cheaper place.

Also, are schools important to you?

Schools are not an issue at the moment but they should be looked at. When you say near the city and further out - what does that mean? I have seen some acerage near Boone for 150-200 but that seems rather far out? I am not familiar with the traffic in the are. What's the commute like getting downtown? Thanks.

Where's Boone? You mean Boone county- that'd be a two hour drive to the city.

Most of the area around St. Louis is somewhat rural. While there are some suburbs that are fairly populated (Fairview Heights, etc.), just go a couple miles outside of town and there's rural area galore.

You can still get some acreage within a 40 minute commute of downtown. Each highway out of town seems to have a different flair to it...

huh? There's 2.5 million people living in a 30 mile radius... hardly rural. That being said land can be had close to the city, but it costs a premium.

I'd look into areas like Eureka and anything along i-44 if you want to keep a commute to the city relatively short.

Neither are bad....of the two 44 is probably a bit better.
