Taking a cruise on the Admiral when I was a kid. We always went with my friend's mom, and she always made us come out on the dance floor when they played the hokey-pokey. Of course, we'd be on top deck when the captain played his pipe organ nearing the end of the cruise.
Taylana's, with its wonderful stained-glass windows and architecture. People-watching on the steps of the arch overlooking Wharf Street. Seeing the Beach Boys at the first VP fair in -- was it 81 or 82? The "whispering arch" at Union Station. Ted Drew's. Uncle Bill's Pancake House, which has the BEST pancakes I've ever had. The Blues Garden at Union Station: On Monday nights, they had a free Blue's concert. All the great blues music around in local bars. Laclede's Landing on a weekend night, walking down cobblestone roads with the smell of the Mississippi wafting up. The cool architecture of the city. All of the barges going up and down the river.
St Louis is the best city ever. Unfortunately, I don't live there anymore. I moved away, got married, had kids, and now I'm more or less stuck here in Atlanta. We recently came back for a visit and we took the kids to the St Louis Museum. That place is beyond awesome! We were blown away by all of the tunnels and 4-flight-slides and places for the kids to climb up.
