I guess the wives work full-time and the husbands work 2 jobs. They probably don't have any furniture inside their houses! Heehee!
OMG you sound just like me and my Hubby! We always wonder what the heck people do to afford houses that expensive! We started looking at houses around $150,000 but quickly rethought that because there was no way we could afford that much of a house! My Husband works full time 8-10 hour shifts and we just started our own business! We opened up a Sno Cone Stand I meet him there when he gets off his full time job and we work it together. Other then that I stay home with our Kids because we cant afford daycare, nor do we really want to put our kids in daycare...we dont trust many people watching our children! We lost our first son and are very protective over our 2 living children we have! We hope to be able to afford a bigger and better house one day with the start of our business!

What a fun job! Have you done it long? I imagine summer will send you some "boomin' business"!

I'm SO sorry for your loss! I have 2 children myself ~ ages 8 & 10. I never thought I'd be a protective mom, but I'm finding myself so nervous about this whole school situation. I feel like I'm throwing them to the wolves by letting them leave me an walk into a school building with a bunch of strangers.

I was (and still am) a stay-at-home mom. I taught school for several years, but I, like you, didn't want someone else to raise them. I also don't think I could ever afford daycare. The last few years I did work P/T. I started a preschool at my church. It was only 4 hours on T & Th. I loved it. It was while the kids were in school. It was so few hours but gave me some time out of the house and a little extra money. When I get to St. Louis, even if we need the money, I think I'll stay home because the kids seem to be more comfortable knowing I'm there.
Linda

I'll have to ask my realtor to check into the area. She has sent me a LOT of houses in Mehlville. That is why I thought it was a cheaper area. She knows we can't afford much more. EEK!
I hear ya on that! I think a lot of houses out here are 2 bedrooms so if you put in 3 bedrooms or more thats prolly why you didnt find much! The house that we bought was orginally a 2 bedroom but the people who owned 2 owners back built on to it. They built the whole top half of it adding 4 bedrooms upstairs and the back family room! Its a Beautiful House! It was on the market for quite some time and wonder why noone snatched it up! We havent really had any problems with it since moving it! We found a lot of winners while we were looking, had inspections done and found that they would need $20,000 dollars of work done to it...we were like UM NO, Your already asking $140,00-$150,000 whats up with that LOL People are crazy to want as much as they do for some houses!

We just started the business last month, our first time doing it as well! Its certainly a adventure especially with the bad weather we have had!

Thank you for your condolences! I never thought I would be as a protective Mommy as well and had we not lost our son I may not have been but once you have lost one child you realize that there is no gaurntee in life! Its a very scary world out there!

I dont blame you for being so protective. Once my Kiddos are school age (my son is 3 yrs old and my daughter is almost 8 months so I still have some time LOL) but they will be going to Hancock Schools where are 2 secons away from us but I dont know much about the school district so I am already worrying about that! I asked my parents if they knew anything about it and they both said they have never heard anything about it so thats prolly a good thing, at least they never heard anything about it LOL

That is a fun age. I stressed for quite some time about my kids starting school. My son's K - 2 and my daughter's K year we sent them to Christian school. It was a wonderful atmosphere. They learned SO much, and we were completely comfortable with the experience. Unfortunately, money changed that situation. We had to put them into public school For his 3r - 4th grade years and her 1st - 2nd grade years. But, it was OK. The school superintendent in the North Kansas City School district let me go around and talk with all the principals in the area and choose the school I wanted. We were very pleased with out choice. It was a nice small school (only 2 classes per grade) and the atmosphere was very family friendly. Now we are starting all over in a new city ~ scary! I just want to make the best choice for my kids.

An truly noone can blame you for that either! Shows how much you love your Babies and how good of Parents you both are!!! Kudos!!! In this Day and Age there are a lot of parents in this world who really dont care about there kids, they let them do what they want...knowingly let others hurt there Children and they just stand there and do nothing about it! Its really Sad just anyone can have a Child you dont have to go thru classes to weed out the bad parents!

Kudos to you and your Hubby on being Wonderful and Caring Parents!!!!

Stick with Mehlville schools over Hancock. It's a small district (only one elementary, one middle and one high school), but their test scores are less than impressive.

Did you mean the Hancock school district is small?
