Default O'Fallon Missouri land to buy??

My family just returned from a visit to the O'Fallon area and loved it. We are considering a move from Long Island, New York to O'Fallon. However, there are many, many communities developed, we were thinking of buying a piece of land and building a home (just don't want too many restrictions on how we live). Does anyone know if that would be possible? School district is important since we would have a high schooler.....any input is appreciated, thanks

Try Augusta , Dardenne Paraire , Defiance , and maybe Wentzville . Along HWY 40 . They are are little more pricey off of HWY 40 but many more custom developements and they back up to Wildlife areas and access O'Fallon within minutes . St Dominic is a good Catholic High School and Wentzville is probably the best public high school . If your high schooler is an athlete and male go Wentzville , Baseball in Wentzville is one of the top in the country and football is big. St Dom is very good in Female Atheletics and both for Soccer , . Don't be fooled by the drive to STL County , although farther , far less traffic once you cross the bridge into the ST Charles County on HWY 40 trades miles for time . A little bit farther down past Wentzville there is a ton of land for homes in Moscow Mills and St Paul , but the schools are not as developed ( yet ) , but some do cross into Wentzville District .
