More specific diversity acceptance question
I was in the Air Force for several years and was able to move around many palces throughout the US execpt the "Heartland" area. I now currently work for an aerospace company with a large plant in the St. louis area and there is a possibility that they will ask me to move up there in a management situation, I would like to take it execpt...
I am a Muslim, although my wife and I look more Latin then Indian my wife tends to wear Indian clothes around town sometimes. I was out of the military and back in California before I married her, so I don't know how accepted she and I will be in the St. Louis area or outside of CA... I'm kinda worried about it. Just the websites and blogs that show up when googling "Muslims and St. Louis" scares me.
I guess my question is how accepting are the people of St. Louis?
My other opition is Dallas and I know Dallas quite well, but the opportunity would be better in St. louis, so please help me decide

Instead of reading blogs and the such, that can construe issues to sensationalize the subject, maybe contact those of your faith directly in that area?
Such as: Muslim Student Association - UM St. Louis
Welcome to Stlislam
or ICC Masjid Madina Call 1 (314) 352-2700 (broken link)
I would imagine not having much of an issue there. Good luck.

There's a Muslim community in St. Louis, including an influx of Bosnians. They recently built a minaret. I'd tell you more but I don't have time right now.
St. Louis is more Catholic than anything else, but I wouldn't expect any issues with your religion or race.

My gut tells me you'll be fine, but it's hard to be sure of course. There are bigots and racists everywhere, and of course you know this isn't the West Coast.
I gotta say though, from having spent time in Dallas, I think you'd probably have fewer problems here. I met some not so open-minded people when I was there last, that if indicative (as I believe them to be) of the typical mindset of other residents of the area, wouldn't make me want to move there anytime soon.
