Anheuser-Busch up for sale
I was so sad to hear that AB will likely sell to a foreign based company. My family lives in St. Louis and I think of AB as such an integral part of the community. I love taking my nephew to Grant's Farm and can't imagaine the Belgium based "InBev" who is known for their slash and burn reputation seeing the value in spending the millions it must take to keep Grant's Farm as special as it is today. Could the Busch family keep it open with their own fortunes? Can you imagine Busch stadium being called "InBev" Stadium..ugggh.

All signs are pointing to it happening. Sadly, the family only owns 1.5% of the company, so it's not their call.

I hd heard about this, but it didn't sound like a sale, it sounded more like a takeover.

It definitely would be a hostile takeover. They'll probably go to the stockholders, offer them more per share than its worth and everyone will roll right over for them. It sucks, but with the way the dollar looks against the euro right now, there's not much we can do.
On the plus side, I heard InBev was having a hard time coming up with some of the money to do this thing... here's to hoping they fail.
In an AP article they said that AB is as St. Louis as the arch, but I gotta tell ya, i think AB is way more St. Louis than the arch ever could hope to be. The arch, after all, was only built in the 60s!

Why? Maybe if they get taken over they will start making beer that is worth something.
Their beer is uninspiring and practically tasteless. They are the worst brewery in the world. They are known for using unnatural ingredients such as High Fructose Corn Syrup in there beer which is unacceptable.

Well Bud heavy and Bud light are the tow most popular beers in the world, so who gets the last laugh?
You don't have to like Coca-Cola but you gotta respect them for becoming such a household name.
Personally, I love Bud Light... I've given them enough business over the years LOL!

I think we are talking about more than the beer, being from KC, perhaps you dont understand how deeply ingrained in STL AB is.
Also, how in the world do you know that they put corn syrup in the beer? Please enlighten the rest of us.

I can't wait to hear the response to that one myself. I have taken the tour and drank many of their products (Bud Select anyone?) and don't recall seeing corn syrup used during the process.
I too hope that INBEV doesn't end up buying AB. Dang furinners...
Guess I will have to drink Schafly's brew if it happens. Anyone tried their APA? Good stuff!
