Thanks everyone, to answer all your questions in one post:
As soon as I got my degree I got a job offer here...for a significant amount more. So basically a raise coupled with the low cost of living was pretty much a no brainer.
My wife and I were renting an apartment in a horrible part of San Diego for $1500 a month. We were miserable because we didnt see the value in buying anything there. Thank GOD we didnt buy that $400k condo we were eyeballing, we'd definitely would have foreclosed on it like everyone else out there.
We bought a house after being here for 2 weeks in the Manchester area (Dougherty Ferry and 270, near the bowling alley and got a bargain...less than $200k. With the VA loan my mortgage is less than my rent was in San Diego. Much more space, much safer area, 2 car garage, our own yard, and pride of ownership. Like I said it was a no brainer.
So far we love it! The people are nicer and more hospitable. Traffic is more laid back, everyone isnt always in a hurry, they let you merge, and they
dont cut you off as often
On top of that, we've always been cardinal fans. San Diego Padre fans usually dont dress appropriately for the games like Redbird fans, the sea of red and white flocking towards the stadium is amazing!
Thanks for the warm welcome!
