Default Nice entry level ranch houses near U City

Hi, my aging parents are looking for a very safe neighborhood near Clayton where my Sister lives. They need a ranch home and want to spend 220k or less.

They have looked in U City, but some of the neighborhoods seem pretty dicey. Does anyone have any other ideas? They are working with a realtor who isn't turning up much.

They could live in a neighborhood or not (perhaps a house set back from a busy street/country type home.

Thanks for your ideas. They sold their place and have only 30 days to find a new one!

Brentwood and Richmond Heights are good bets. They will be smaller brick 2 bedroom, 1 to 1.5 bath homes in that price range, but for an older couple that should be fine. They could also consider a single level condo like in Brentwood Forest where there are quite a few retired couples and singles.

Kirkwood has so many brick (maintenance free!) ranches. Plus they can walk anywhere. The neighborhood is very safe and friendly to seniors. Plus Kirkwood is minutes from Brentwood/Clayton via Kirkham Ave.

Also include Webster Groves and Rock Hill in the search. Less pedestrian friendly than Kirkwood, but lower prices and great access to everything.

Like this place:http://www.realtor.com/realestate/ro...19-1101618355/ which is well under their budget and they'd be less than 15 minutes to Clayton.
