St. Peters/O'Fallon/ Chesterfield (St. Louis, St. Charles: houses, construction, schools)

I was wondering about these three areas. Which feels more like a small town? How are the schools? Which has more open land and farm land? How is the commute to St. Louis? Any and all information about these areas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.

All three of these towns have great schools, i can tell ya that right away. As for a small town, not sure. They are all popular areas of the st. louis metro area. They all have a population of about 50,000 people...so maybe Ofallon i'd say because everything is on one road. Hwy K. all your saturday errands will be spent on hwy k. but since it's newly developed the traffic is not to horrific, cuz they constructed the road not to have so many stoplights, unlike 94. Actually they might be equally horrific...but it's all on your opinion i guess. hope this helped

I agree, O'Fallon will feel most like a small town with the most open space and farmland. St. Peters flows right into St. Charles without being able to tell you've crossed over into a new town. And Chesterfield feels very much like a big city with big traffic these days. I worked in Chesterfield for a year and had to add 15 minutes to my drive because of the heavy traffic on Hwy 141. Not sure about the schools in any of the areas you mentioned but Chesterfield is the most affluent area of the three which also means the most pricey.

O'Fallon definitely has the most small-town feel of the three. That's mostly because it's the newest and farthest from St. Louis.

O'Fallon- I live in St. Peters and like it for the most part. My opinion on more of a small town feel is neither of the 3 cities you said. O'Fallon, is overcrowded with now over 75,000 people living in its small 25 sq. mile area. Driving North on K past Highway N you see a never ending site of houses and hardly any trees. Also, between Highway N and I-70 Highway K is a complete mess of traffic almost the entire day. Commute- 35 miles from St. Louis, you can use 40, or 70.

St. Peters- has its old and new parts but has enough major streets and spread out commercial areas to where its not as bad as O'Fallon. It has a few farm areas in its outer areas, but those are probably soon to develop into more housing. Commute- 30 Miles from St. Louis, 70 being the most direct path taking 20 minutes to St. Louis if it's not rush hour.

Chesterfield- Very pretty yet getting busier and busier all the time. Starting to look more like a city than a suburb.
Commute- More direct path to Downtown by taking 40 all the way in, but 40's going under construction and it's always very very busy and narrow for such a busy highway.
