New Years in St. Louis??
I'll be be new to STL at the end of December..any suggestions for New Year's? My hubby and I are late 20s and would prefer something that entails adult beverages and good music.

I think the Buckeyes fans take over frequently at a popular local bar called Harpo's, way out in Chesterfield on Olive Blvd. A more traditional night of revelry would probably involve hitting the divey but friendly bars that dot nearly every corner around Soulard (kind of a bar hoppers paradise), partying up at one of the more style conscious night clubs downtown in the Washington Ave district, or else maybe whooping it up with a more tourist/suburbanite crowd down along Laclede's Landing, which is a little cobblestone entertainment district between north of the Arch, between the Edward Jones Dome and the river.

LOL, what?
Harpo's is as big of a Mizzou bar as you'll find. No one "takes over" that bar. Ever.
To the original poster, it might be helpful if you provided more info other than "we're in our 20's and want to drink." That doesn't really narrow down the options much.

We usually solve that by buying some cheap liquor and turning on some Smashing Pumpkins.
... or you could celebrate near the arch.

I just wanted to put myself on record as saying the Harpo's Chesterfield location is brutal. Bad service, and bad food. I hope its changed dramatically in recent times.

The Landing, Central West End, Washington Avenue and Soulard will be the big party 'hoods. Use Yelp to find bars in those 'hoods and call them and ask what they're doing for NYE. That's probably the easiest thing to do.

I think your best bet is the Landing or somewhere on Maryland Plaza. Well that's what I'll probably be doing...lol. I just know I'll be wasted on the Metrolink or in the back of a taxi by the time the night is over.
