Best BBQ
Going to St. Louis in June. Where is the best BBQ place?? Driving down to Springfield for a week vacation and will be flying into St. Louis. Need to grab a bite to eat before we head to Springfield. Anything else we shouldn't miss??

I personally love Bandanas. Great sauces and big portions.

Oy! We've only lived in St. Louis for about 4 mos.....
I just know the one we go to is a bit off I-270 on Dorsett. It's not too far from the airport but I can't tell you exactly the route......They can probably tell you AT the airport though.

From the airport the Bandanas on Dorsett is right on the way to Springfield. Go Hwy. 70 west to Hwy. 270 south and get off at the first exit which is Dorsett Road. Turn left and Bandanas sits on the southeast corner just after you pass under the highway. There are many more and even one in Fenton. That one is just as easy. Just continue on Hwy. 270 to Hwy. 44 west (to Springfield) and get off at the second exit and look left you will see it.
By the way, if you are going to Springfield be sure to go to Lambert's Cafe in Ozark about 12 miles south of Springfield on Hwy. 65. World famous for throwed rolls, they will fill you up with all you can eat and very inexpensive. Bring cash as they don't take cards (do have an ATM there), and try and go during the week as they have lines forever on the weekends, even though the line goes fast.
You've got me hungry. Bring an Oregano's pizza or Chompies Corned Beef sandwich when you come from Phoenix.

Love Chompies. Oreganos is in Scottsdale's old part of town. Fantastic restaurant, much more than pizza. Here's their web site.

Best BBQ near St. Louis - drive west on I-70 to exit 11 (U.S. 40, Independence). Take the exit. Turn right and head north for about .30 miles. You will see a sign that says Gates Barbecue. It is a modest red building. You will not find any better BBQ within a 1,000 mile radius.

Hayden's BBQ in Poplar Bluff kicks Gate's butt, and they have hand-squeezed pink lemonade to boot.
