I am moving to the St. Louis area within the next month and I need to find a good area for myself and my two young children. I'm a newly single mother and I've just graduated from college so I need an affordable area that also has good schools. I will be working in Chesterfield and I don't mind being a little ways out. I've been searching everywhere, even into Illinois, but I really need some advice. I don't like moving either, so I'd really like to find a nice place that I can stay and raise my babies. Help please!!!

why not lilve right there in Chesterfield? Very strong schools (Parkway) and some affordable options in housing. Check out apartments that are scattered all around 141 and Olive. Parkway Central district, very nice.

I agree with Zach. I grew up in St. Louis and went to Parkway Central High School. It's a great school district and St. Louis is a very affordable city in general - although since I don't know where you're moving from I don't know what you're used to paying. Do NOT live in Ill. - it's a long commute and just not necessary. Chesterfield, Ballwin and Creve Coeur are all good options for you. Enjoy my hometown - I still miss it!

What price are you looking to rent/buy? I understand...I have kids and I am a Teacher. I also work for a builder on the weekends. I have my real estate license. I am not trying to solicit business, my main job is teaching. I am VERY particular about schools and neighborhoods. I am in the Rockwood School district. I will try to help you. Thanks, Deborah

To really make suggestions we'd need to know your price range, but if you need something inexpensive, look in Eureka or O'Fallon. Chesterfield can be pricey.

Eureka, Pacific, O'Fallon, Wentzville areas would be more affordible without too much of a drive. Not sure I'd rate any of the schools over the others, and that's based on going to 3 of them in the areas mentioned.

You're wrong. O'Fallon has the best schools (Fort Zumwalt) of those you mentioned by FAR.

Try Forest Park Apartments at Affton. Perfect place to live with low to no crimes. I pay $902 for my town home. You can probably get a 2 bedroom for a little over $700. Let me know if you need some help locating them.

Actually that's not fair of me. Eureka's schools are very good too.

You could ask in the Illnois forum too, There are some very nice areas not far from St, Louis. What you might not know is Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis is the only top 25 ranked hospital in the midwest and that includes UI Chicago, Iowa City and a couple of other well respected hospitals.
