Sorry to hear of your loss.

The first thing to come to mind was maybe around the Lindenwood Park or Francis Park area in South City. There seem to be some 1-story homes there. But I'm not sure about rent.

How about Maplewood or Richmond Heights?

Do you want a 1-floor house or a 1-floor flat downstairs?
