Oh...I vote. And I'm very active in the community. Just because I don't live in the city doesn't mean that I can't have an opinion about the city--especially since it has so much impact on the lives of everybody in the STL region. I have lots of ideas for improving St. Louis City--but the leadership is far less open to new ideas than the traditional race-bating, welfare-promising canard it has relied upon for years....

I'm glad you vote but you don't vote for the city's leadership. Neither do I so I don't complain about it. I may suggest changes that would help the area, but I don't say stuff like:

Quote:
If this town can pull it off with the losers we have in leadership....it will be nothing short of a miracle.
If they're losers, it's your fault and every other person who sits in their little county bubble.

I am not upset about the fact you live in West County. However, if you choose not to leave your bubble that is fine, but I would recommend getting to the city to take advantage of everything it has to offer.

I didn't mean to make it sound like I care that you live in Chesterfield. I grew up in St. Peters and Rock Hill so I have nothing against the suburbs.

My only point was you can complain about the mayor of Chesterfield (it's John Nations right?) or anyone else you personally elected, but complaining about who the citizens of a city that you don't live in voted into office rings a little false.

That being said I don't want to fight about it either, as it's pretty pointless. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't coming off as saying people that live in the suburbs have nothing to do with the city, merely that it's one of my pet peeves that people from the county often purposefully keep themselves in their county bubble and then bemoan all the city's problems.

It's only been posted for like 15 hours, give it time. This is so great to hear- what's amazing is that all anyone can talk about here in Chicago right now is all the murders and shootings going on- esp. because the economy is shaky!
