I would look in these areas;
Suburbs: University City, Clayton, Richmond Heights, Brentwood, Maplewood
City neighborhoods; Central West End, Dogtown (Dogtown is the combination of three neighborhoods; Hi-Pointe, Clayton-Tamm, and Franz Park). I live in Franz Park and I am very happy with the area. As far as furnished, I'm not sure where to look.

You may want to check with this service, I believe it is free, and the money they make is actually from the landlords/property management companies;
CORT Relocation Services: Rental relocations and temporary assignments

What kind of environment are you looking for? Walkable city neighborhood with older homes and restaurants nearby or a more suburban feel with bigger lots, and more car dependent lifestyle?

I would suggest that you take a look at Lafayette Square - historic homes, wonderful park, treelined streets, restaurants and al fresco dining, eclectic shopping, and great neighbors. ...mod cute: remove advertising...

I would look at somewhere around Tower Grove Park, maybe in the Shaw Neighborhood. I live aroung there and I rwally like it. There is so much culture and ethnic diversity and people are pretty friendly. On South Grand, you will find so many different and unique restraunts and markets. The housing market there is very fair priced too. Not to mention, you will find mostly all of St. Louis' Indian population there. I hope I helped and good luck on your search.
