And what areas are you frequenting? Try the city instead of So Co and you opinion may change. I will admit it not the fastest paced city but it is still considerably faster paced than a lot of other cities mainly in the Midwest, South, and Western regions.

I'd agree that St. Louis has is a very slow paced environment, which is a big adjustment for some.

^^It's funny because if you hang out on the KC forum they complain about how fast and rude we are -- we drive too aggressively etc. It's all a matter of perspective I guess.

Anyway, what I hate about St. Louis has nothing to do with crime or danger - it's how SLOW things are here! Driving, talking, shopping, whatever...is this the Midwest or the South? I've been here almost three years and I don't think I've ever encountered a slower-paced environment!
|
Now that we know you are from Denver, it's laughable to suggest St. Louis is slow in comparison. If you were in fact comparing St. Louis to parts of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, then I would say so.

It is perspective and my NYC, D.C. ....Northeast and Mid-Atlantic living comes out sometimes. Heck in Boston, beeping the horn is like speaking, ...it is non-stop just to move you along. My overall view is that St. Louis is a slow paced metro, ...but I suppose to smaller metros, and even rural areas, it's a little faster for those people, yes.

Relatively slow
St. Louis is relatively slow-paced, but faster-paced than most Midwestern cities. Friends from NYC who moved here had a tough adjustment. However, NYC is in a league of its own in terms of pace. As a former Chicagoan, I can honestly say that NYC makes Chicago look like it's standing still in comparison. On the flip side, however, Chicago makes LA look like it's standing still, so everything is relative!!

You should never paint brick! My husband is a mason, and it is bad to paint brick. It's difficult and expensive to remove, and when the building needs tuckpointing, it will no longer match.

Of course it's a lot faster paced than cities in the South...St. Louis is not in the South or the West. I have always felt its pace was rather fast partly due to its history as a manufacturing city...it's not as fast as Chicago, but on about the same par as Detroit, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Milwaukee.
