That sucks kshe95girl, the job market back in STL is probably just as bad.

Sorry, I accidentally gave you a rep. I meant to hit "quote"
I disagree. I've heard the High School thing before, but any time I've visited I've never had a problem. I do only go to St. Louis a few times a year, but it seems that everyone has been pretty friendly.
kshe95girl, maybe you already mentioned it. If you don't mind my asking, what do you do for a living? Just curious.

No. Maybe iowa86 knows what he's talking about. I'm simply saying that, on my visits, I have not found that to be the case.
I didn't say Iowa86 was wrong, I was just saying that in my experience the St. Louis people have been pretty friendly.

Hmmmm, what a negative Title for a thread. How sad. Must be a case of the old saying 'Misery Loves Company'. I think that in order to really get a feeling of a city, town, dot on the map, a person would do better to ask, 'Why and what do you like about...........name of place........??? I can understand some ranting about extreme dislikes for certain places if and when you find yourself having to live there.
However, if you or anyone are so miserable, the best thing would be to get other opinions concerning what is good about a place. Just might find something to help fill that gap until you are fortunate enough to realize your wish and move. Listening to each other's bad experiences and dislikes will do nothing IMHO to assist you in the remainder of your stay in the city.
I believe that all of us carry with us expectations that may be unrealistic about our new surroundings. We are used to our 'home' state, city, town, whatever and find ourselves constantly comparing and criticizing what we find when nothing lives up to our preconceived dreams. Everything around us fails to satisfy us. We then begin to look for only the negative in order to justify and give credence to our negative outlook.
I would hope that you can find something around the City of St. Louis that will give you some semblance of a city not on the brink of some unworldly forsaken place. Good luck to you.

From my understanding there has been a longstanding thread in this forum entitled "What you love about St. Louis". The OP probably was just starting a devil's advocate thread. No harm with that. There are things we love and hate about every city.

You red brick haters are crazy!!!!
I moved here from Phoenix about 6 months ago, where instead of brick, all I saw was beige stucco and more beige stucco. The entire city looks like a huge Taco Bell restaraunt. Everything the color of dust. I've always loved red brick buildings. Only in old historic parts of Phoenix did I find small brick homes... Now I'm surrounded by it, and I can't imagine ever getting tired of it.
I do agree with the negative thoughts on the winters here. Although I know we could have it worse, I do miss winter in Phoenix.

In the comparison, I would say that KC is more laid back than St. Louis. I wouldn't go as far to say that its an unfriendly place. I'm glad your experience has been good.

Oh, I can understand someone playing devil's advocate. No harm. However, if you read the OP's other threads and posts you will observe his somewhat extreme hatred of the Midwest and the City of St. Louis in particular. I am mainly opposed to using 'hate' when dislike would have been more appropriate.
Also, would hope that during the remainder of their time spent in St. Louis they would be able to find something to change their opinion, or at least to observe some positive about the city.

I wouldn't say there is anything I love about this city, but I don't hate everything about here. It's just time for a change for me. So I am venting!
