So, it looks as if i'm going to be working in Clayton, instead of Chesterfield... which opens things back up again. It also seems that I need to find a place with a month to month lease, preferably furnished since it looks like i may be transferred in 3-6 months.
Does anybody have suggestions for apartment finders? It seems that most places are requiring at least a 6 month lease...

I hear the loft district, while busy, can be very noisy and there isn't much to do there except live and drink. Can anybody confirm or deny this?
Thanks in advance for your help!

If you're working in Clayton, that is much better for your needs. You can live in the Central West End which would be a short commute. If you look on Craigslist, you might be able to find a sublet.

I'll take a stab at the boundaries. A rectangle bounded by Forest Park Pkwy (on the south), Delmar (on the north), Sarah (on the east) and Union (on the west). Keep in mind that the northeast corner of that rectangle I just described is largely considered to be high crime, as is anywhere along Delmar and to points north. If I were to take a swag at the "center cut" (i.e., most desirable) section of the CWE, I might say anything within a block of the Euclid Avenue district from Laclede up to about Lenox. There are some immense mansions just west of Kingshighway, but clearly that is not what you are interested in. Most of the rentals will be along Lindell, Pine, Laclede between Newstead and Kingshigway. Those are nice areas, all of em. East of Kingshighway, yuppies and students generally stay south of Delmar, and most prefer to be at or below Westminster. There is a pocket of new development in the Gaslight Square area of the CWE, which is in the northeast section (of the rectangle noted above), but I don't know if there are any rentals there, and it is a bit away from the shops and what not.
CWE is awesome for nightlife and a city, urban vibe, but I'd still go with Clayton if I were you, though, based on your original post.

I live in the Loft district and its a common misconception for people to think that it is noisy and only a place to eat and drink which is not true. There are boutique shops, Union Station, Macy's, sport venues, concert clubs, casinos, coffee shops, metro link, the riverfront, bike trails, parks, etc. Plus it is centrally located to just about everything you need. The majority of the people who make those comments are the ones who only come down here to eat and drink and have no idea what it is like to live down here. I would assume this came from someone in HR or someone else who live in the county. I have also never had a problem with noise since the blds are very big and drown out most of the outside noise. I would highly consider the Loft district and pm me if you have ?'s
