Road construction and Clayton/Richmond Heights traffic
I'm looking for a rental in Clayton, Richmond Heights or Brentwood, and will be working at Barnes Jewish Hospital. I'm wondering if current construction is going to affect my commute if I drive. I would actually prefer to use public transit rather than drive if possible. I assume I would need to catch a bus to a metro station, then take rail the rest of the way. Does anybody have experience/advice using the public transit system there? Thanks!

Yes, it will affect your commute as highway 64/40 is closed and you will have have to take the crowded streets. If you take the Metro train, there are convinient stations near the areas you mention. The Metro site has a google map showing where the stations are located. The one near Eager/Hanley is a park&ride.

I don't think it's that bad. If you lived close to Clayton Rd, you will take Clayton Rd all the way down to Hampton, to Oakland, then to Kingshighway.

The hwy 40 project will end in less than 10 months. I assume you will be seeking a longer term rental than that? Since you said you prefer public transit look for rental options near public transit. Your post 10 month commute will be about 15 minutes and no more than 30 in high traffic times, ...pretty easy stuff.

Thank you all for the information. I will be arriving there in June, so it sounds like the Hwy 40 project will end not too long after that. I'll be there for two years. I'm looking at the Metrolink website trying to work out the best way to take public transit from various locations I'm looking at for rentals. It looks like there is free parking available at the Brentwood station, and if I'm reading the chart correctly it looks like about a 15 min ride to Barnes. Considering I've been commuting an hour to work each way, either the drive or public transit are sounding great. I'm pretty sure that they said Metrolink fare was included in my benefits, so this sounds perfect!
