Default What about Bridgeton, MO

I am thinking of purchasing a condo in Bridgeton. Anybody know of a reason I shouldn't? thanks!

Other than airplane noise I can't think of anything.

Bridgton has some nice areas and is in the very solid Pattonville School District which helps keep property values up without being too expensive. The newer areas are very suburban and there is plenty of shopping and restaurants on and just off St. Charles Rock Rd, and also near Lambert. There are a lot of Boeing employees living there which adds stability to the area since even in this major recession they are not hurting as bad as many other companies (since their funding is primarily from long term government contracts). The airport expansion a decade ago created quite a disruption in Bridgeton which truly seems foolish now that TWA/American no longer uses Lambert as their hub and air traffic has fallen substantially. But now it is pretty stable and actually considered "conveniently located" as a more established northwestern community.

Default Just a thought...

Why don't you contact the Bridgeton PD...they could be of great help. At least telling you the area's that are safer than others.

Also in the Maryland Heights area... I would do the same thing.
They have a brand new state of the art city hall, it's really nice, (I know people that took a tour thru it) you could check with them as well.

Also local realtors would give you some ideas.

Another thing to consider...not knowing your age, so please don't be offended. M H use to have a Seinor Center, the St. Louis county parks & Rec. were in charge of it. I believe Bridgeton still has their Sr. citizen club & I know St. Ann does, but I don't advise even looking in St. Ann area to live in.
If you contacted these, I know you would get some help.

You could also call chamber of commerce in these areas.

Good luck

Thank you. I am a senior citizen, but have only been a widow 2 months so don't quite trust my judgment yet.

That's good to be that way. Always be careful out there. Be aware of your surroundings, especially in this day & age.
I do know that DePaul Hospital has a widow support group. That might be of interest to you. My Mom's best friend is in charge of it. A lot of nice woman get together. It's a nice thing to have, especially since your feelings are still so raw from your loss.
There are a lot of Widows out there, widowers, too, but not as many.

I still think contacting city hall or even the Bridgeton Police Dept. would be a great start.

I do know for a fact if you buy... your taxes will be higher in Maryland Heights then in Bridgeton.
Do you know any realtors that you can trust to help you ?

I will try to get some phone numbers for you, if you would like.

Best of luck.
Just ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings...that goes for everyone.
I always say better safe than sorry.

Sillypups, I couldn't remember what this forum is called and just rediscovered it. I lived with my son in St. Charles for a few months and then rented an apartment here. It's in a huge complex, and though I like the apartment it has its drawbacks. I am a senior citizen and the complex is made up of mostly young people, which isn't a problem because most of them are very nice. But you have to put your trash in the car and drive to a dumpster and also have to drive to the office almost a half mile away to get your mail. I am disabled and this presents a problem. Does anyone know of apartments in St. Charles that are more senior friendly? Thanks to all!
