In fact I have managed to get some answers about taxes when living in IL and working in MO... well, as you can guess, not only you will pay more property tax but also income tax because you work in MO... that is unfair!

Illinois has higher taxes on EVERYTHING, not just housing. It's nothing that's not typical of a blue state though.

I've been reading the replys and I just want to write this. We lived in northern Illinois for 14 years. Last year we paid $33,000 in property tax. Enough! We retired last summer, sold our house for NO profit and moved to Branson, MO. We bought a beautiful home in the Ozark mountains and our property tax was $1900 for the YEAR! I can't believe our quality of life. I know this has nothing to do with the thread.

If you are going to post something like that, why don't you also post the market value of the properties? Obviously, they are nopt of comparable value.
