My girlfriend and I are making a quick trip to Saint Louis and then spending the night in Saint Charles. I'm looking for a good, more authentic, German restaurant. I have found the Gast Haus which would be near the arch, zoo, and botanical garden. The other good option is Vintage House in St. Charles.
Has anyone been to either or both of these? Any other ideas?

I haven't been there, but I've heard good things about a German restaurant in Waterloo, IL...I can't remember the name of it now, but you could try googling it.

Here are two options. I prefer the feasting fox as it has a great atmosphere but the food is solid at both.

Feasting Fox Restaurant & Pub
(314) 352-3500
4200 S Grand Blvd, St Louis, MO 63111

St Louis Gast Haus
1740 Chouteau Ave
St Louis, MO 63103
(314) 621-4567

Both restaurants are very convenient to the St. Louis Botanical Gardens.

I would second the motion for Feasting Fox or Gaust Haus. I live next door to the Haus and have been to the Feasting Fox. The Haus is closer to downtown and the highway, which would save time. They are both very nice and have great food. The Feasting Fox is older w/ more character as it has been around for much longer. If you want to get drinks after or see a cool neighborhood, go to the Haus and then venture over to Park Avenue in Lafayette Square. That is where I live and there are great bars and a coffee shop. Enjoy.
