I think that when you don't have alot of good teachers that care about the students for real then the school can just turn up side down real quick. Roosevelt was a good school at first then they started hiring all bad teacher are any one to teach and give instructions that didnt really care. So that is what happened to Roosevelt

Wow...
Lets ignore the socioeconomic conditions and go straight to teacher bashing.
Excellent.

The kids don't want to learn. The parents don't care about the kids. The teachers get discouraged. It's a cycle that will be tough to break.

Well, here is my Roosevelt experience. I attended Roosevelt from 1968 -1972. It was a wonderful School with wonderful Teachers. At that time, we had two Security Guards. We called one of them "Mom." They carried no guns.
Ten years later I returned to view old Yearbooks. Was met at the door by armed guards and metal detectors. Was escorted to the Library. Met by a lovely Librarian who brought me the requested Yearbooks. I had all of a half hour viewing the books before several Black kids sat down at my table and annoyed me, bothered me, were rude and actually took Yearbooks from my hands. I saw it was making the Librarian nervous, so I left.
When I attended Roosevelt, it was predominately White. Ten years later, it was nearly all Black.
Roosevelt's decline is NOT due to the poor Teachers. Shame on whomever said that! It declined for the same reason Tower Grove Heights declined and my Mother had to move.

Thought I made it clear. The problem in Tower Grove Heights and it's Schools came about with the large influx of Blacks to the area.
Clear enough for you?

Your confusing correlation with causation, the influx of a poorer, stressed out, disadvantaged population is responsible for the downfall of the schools. If you control for race you will see that it is irrelevant.

Very clear, Thank You!
So we have somebody that says its the teachers fault and somebody who says its because the students are black.
Yep, this is a worthwhile thread.
