Default Relocation: St Louis neighborhoods to stay away from

I am considering moving to St. Louis from Minnesota because I am tired of this extreme cold. I do enjoy all four seasons and friendlier people. Can anyone let me know what neighborhoods to stay away from? Also, can anyone recommend any good middle schools and colleges for my 11yr old and I. I will be pursuing a BA in education. Thanks.

North STL. While they have made progress there, its still pretty scary.

This should be in the St. Louis forum probably.

A lot of areas of North St. Louis do seem to still be pretty bad. But they are making progress, especially in Old North (the neighborhood north of Downtown).

I don't know much about schools. City schools apparently are not good overall. However, there are good charters, magnets, and private schools in the city.

Colleges, there is Wash U which is considered to be one of the best schools in the country, but it's very pricey. There's also Saint Louis University and University of Missouri St. Louis. Are you looking for a community college or a university? In the city or not?

You are on the right track with your weather thoughts. You will get your 4 equal seasons in Stl without prolonged extreme cold. I've done well with friends from the Twin Cities, so I'll move on from that one.

North St. Louis City is a rough place in many parts.

You weren't too specific with the school question. Lots of middle school choices out there depending on where you live. Colleges? There are plenty, a lot depends on more specific criteria.
