Default Another Moving to STL Thread... Young, Vibrant Areas of Downtown/CWE?

I am graduating from college in June and am moving back to St. Louis from Denver. Denver is a wonderful city with a quality of life that everyone should experience however St. Louis is home and I wish to at least begin my career here.

I'm looking to rent, (or buy if it is an extremely good deal though money is limited).

Rent range any where between $500 and $1,500.
I want to be surrounded by other young people who enjoy a healthy, fun, quality of life.

I realize many people would not use the term "vibrant" for downtown but this is what I'm looking and hoping for.

I've begun preliminary searching and have read some of the threads on here but figure any further directions would be beneficial.

thanks for the thoughts.

I am in a similar situation as you (moving to STL this summer and looking for vibrant urban communities), and I got some helpful responses on this thread:

I'm eagerly awaiting any additional advice you receive. Good luck!

Downtown has picked up from earlier this decade and continues to improve. Still room for improvement but I would believe that it is now on par with Denver's downtown. Give it a good look since I am sure you wont be disappointed.

Downtown has certainly picked up here although unfortunately I would not put it into "on par" with Denver... many things attribute to this but the rapid growth of Denver/lack of significant growth here in the past 10 years is the largest part.

That being said I feel the potential here and the progress from the last decade and want to help encourage further progress.
