Just to clarify, the zoo-museum tax isn't 1% of your income, like the city earnings tax; it's calculated based on the assessed valuation of your property.

One good thing is the "General St. Louis Population" would grow from a small town population to a city of over a million people and the many other great areas of the suburbs would finally be thrown in to the media image like Florissant, Chesterfield, Maryland Heights, Overland, Crestwood, Ballwin and many more positive things would be revealed....less negativeness

4 Boroughs. A merged St. Louis, I would hope, would make the Mayoral office more sought after resulting in more/better candidates.

That'd be an interesting race to watch.

St. Louis County isn't all that great either. I mean the are parts of it that are pretty damn nice, but the city has a few nice areas too. A lot of the county is poor trash as is a lot of the city.

I actually went downtown the other night.. poor, dirty, nasty people everywhere. I'm actually considering packing up and moving to the Pacific Northwest as I have a job offer out there. Thank god I don't live in 90% of the county or city for that matter lol

I vote to merge em, who cares what happens )

Have fun out there. Unless you're a Repo Man, don't count on getting a job too soon.

is there any blog dedicated to merging the city and county? We have a lot of blogs on st. louis but I don't recall coming across one on this subject.

It would be nice to have a site covering the pros and cons of merger and pushing for it.
